Bringing Healthy Smiles to Armenia

entranceDr. Weiss' lecture/teaching trip to Armenia at the end of September was extremely sucessful. He lectured at the 7th International Dental Congress in the capital city of Yerevan, treated patients and taught clinical pediatric dentistry at the free clinics of Hand in Hand in Karabaugh in the south. Supervision, actual patient care, and developing treatment planning procedures were highlighted. Dr. Weiss participated in Brushamania, sponsored by Hand in Hand and the Health Ministry, where all the first graders in all the schools had an assembly and learned oral hygiene basics and at 11 AM brushed their teeth at the same time. Dr. Weiss met with the Health Minister and the Chairwoman of the Health Committee of the Parliament in Karabagh, Armenia to discuss the dental health issues of the children. There is an extremely high dental caries rate in the country. Dr. Weiss has a continuing relationship and is a principal working with the government to establish a preventive program for the country.
